39 years of Republic
it's been 39 years of independence for the Republic of Singapore!!!
leaving the British Colonies, end of Colonialism, goodbye to the British Empire.
joining Malaysia Federal States for a couple of years before a referendum which determined our independence.
it has indeed been a long hard road. this is really an occasion for the young nation to celebrate!
hopefully, years of prosperity, international goodwill, and multiracial harmony would follow!
heartfelt thanks to people such as Dr Goh Keng Swee, SM Lee Kuan Yew, Dr Toh Chin Chai, Mr Rajaratnam, Dr Han Rui Sen etc. the very first generation PAP leaders (aka the band of merry men) who built the dislocated country from scratch! leading the shepherdless population wisely, boosting the economy and building friendly diplomatic ties with our fellow neighbouring countries!

nope, i don't watch the boring NDP on tv. i love watching fireworks but didn't get to see them this year, sad to say.... spent the evning with Michele, Darryl and Joshua at Suntec, having dinner over at Burger King's and walk walk at lingerie shops and fashipn boutiques, boring the guys away... left for home at 7, watched Singapore Idol which made me laugh my pants of, over what extent would people make a fool out of themselves just for 3mins of fame on national tv! whee! not forgetting that i have school the very next day..... yawn...
